Care Van

Here at St Ninian's we have a group of volunteers split into three teams who rotate on a monthly basis to support the evening Care Van.  This is a service operated by the partnership of The Bethany Christian Trust and The Edinburgh City Mission. The service operates on every night of the year, except for fireworks night at the end of the Edinburgh Festival, and is run alongside the Care Shelter and the lunchtime Care Van.

The purpose of the Care Van is to serve homemade soup, tea/coffee, biscuits and fruit to the vulnerable and homeless and also to hand out good quality new and used clothing.  We also offer friendship and encouragement, as well as general advice and information. We have a fixed route through the centre of Edinburgh stopping at Waverley Bridge, King's Stables Road, the Grassmarket and North Bridge.

In the summer months we often see in excess of 40 users and in the winter slightly less as many seek refuge and an evening meal at the Care Shelter.

If you would like to volunteer for this essential service and would be interested in joining our team then please contact Alison Cunningham through the Church Office.
